Hold a Soy Candle Party
Candle parties are a great way to help get your candle business started, or to find new customers. You don't have to do much demonstrating and speaking as with some other products, since almost everybody knows candles are and they can simply smell your inventory.
One great way to get contacts is to hold a door prize, and have guests sign up to win a moderate-sized package. This can be the start of your mailing list to send information on new scents, sizes, and special offers. You probably won't be able to take credit cards, but you should have a money box for taking checks and making change. Make sure you bring plenty of inventory of all different fragrances.
One option is to light off candles and have them burn during the party, but be sure to choose fragrances that go together. Also be careful not to light too much without proper ventilation. If you do, the scents could become overpowering, people won't be able to smell the other candles, and it could even be dangerous.
The host or hostess of the party usually gets a small commission on sales, so don't forget them. Unless the party is very small, you'll want assistants to help in the sales and talking to guests about your different candles. Don't be pushy, but don't miss sales either. And don't forget to have fun!
